Both men played big parts in securing funding for dredging Darien Harbor’s channel in 2001. They also have kept Darien town officials informed about local waters issues, encouraged safe boating and ensured the town was in compliance with state and federal maritime and environmental agencies’ shoreline regulations.

First Selectman Jayme Stevenson, along with Selectmen Kip Hall, Susan Marks and Jerry Nielsen, led those in attendance at the Noroton Yacht Club. Stevenson pronounced Sept. 4 as “Sandy McDonald Day” and Sept. 5 as “Link Jewett Day.”

The Darien Advisory Commission on Coastal Waters works closely with local residents and boaters. Anyone interested in attending a meeting or getting more information may find the schedule, agendas and minutes on the Town of Darien’s website (http://www.darienct.gov/).
