Darien Entrepreneur Showcases Local Jewelry Artisans On New Website

DARIEN, Conn. -- It may seem surprising that over two million people shop for jewelry online every day, buying everything from beaded bracelets to engagement rings.

Darien's Sue Haxager Kunze has launched a new retail website of modern jewelry pieces by independent designers.

Savvy consumers are looking for the unique pieces that they can’t find at big retailers, but first they have to sift through hundreds of websites looking for styles that suit their individual taste.  Sue Haxager Kunze, a Darien based, entrepreneur is about to change all that with her newly launched website, VisibleInterest.com, an online boutique that brings together a tightly edited collection of modern jewelry pieces by independent designers.

“The site offers a selection of both fashion and fine jewelry pieces that share a sophistication and modernity to their style,” Kunze says.

A former marketing and advertising executive, Kunze launched the website late last year after working with many local and national artisans who did not have the time, or marketing expertise, to manage their individual websites.  She explains, “I realized that there are so many of these incredibly talented artisans who would benefit from the exposure of a well designed and heavily marketed site.  VisibleInterest.com combines my background in marketing and advertising with my passion for modern design and all things style.”

Today, through the VisibleInterest website she represents nine jewelry designers.  Four of the brands included in the selection are based in Fairfield County: Fine jeweler Scott Cusson, who uses materials from nature and artifacts from ancient cultures to create his one-of-a-kind treasures, Lauren Chisholm Fine Art Jewelry which features Mid-Century Modern-inspired statement pieces; Brother Wolf which gives a luxe, modern twist to traditional spiritual jewelry; and Created by A, a line that celebrates color through the use of vibrant stones.

When selecting designers and jewelry for the site, she says that she looks for jewelers that combine glamour with a bit of edge. Kunze explains, “I want to showcase a cohesive collection that someone with a similarly modern aesthetic could look through and easily find many pieces that work for them.  There are other sites that focus on indie designers, but I find most of them overwhelming, with thousands of items and an incongruous mix of styles.  I am purposefully keeping the number of pieces manageable and the jewelry within a specific style range.”

Kunze takes great pride in the fact that all pieces are made exclusively in the USA and most are handcrafted. “There really is something special about a piece of jewelry that has an actual individual behind it, someone who first conceived of the design and then made the piece themselves.” Kunze said enthusiastically. “Fairfield County has so many talented individuals!”
