Families, administrators and teachers attended. This year’s essay topic was “A Trip Through Ellis Island.” Children were asked to write a letter to an imaginary cousin explaining their Ellis Island experience as new immigrants to the United States. The year 2015 marks the 125th anniversary of Ellis Island and, coincidentally, also is the 125th anniversary of the founding of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
