The mission of the Lenten luncheon is to bring together women from all Christian denominations to celebrate their faith during Lent with a lovely lunch and an inspiring speaker.

This year’s featured speaker is Sister Joan Magnetti, executive director of the Catholic Academies of Bridgeport, a consortium of three inner-city Diocese of Bridgeport Catholic elementary schools. These schools serve 1,000 children, many of whom are from the poorest families in Connecticut.

Magnetti holds a master's degree from Union Theological Seminary, where she recently served on the board for eight years and an honorary doctorate of Humane Letters from Manhattanville College. She has served on many school and college boards of trustees, including Manhattanville, Union Theological Seminary and the Horizon Program at Sacred Heart University.

She is also the recipient of many local and national awards in education and leadership.

At the luncheon, there will also be a performance by the Men’s Pivot House Choir.

The luncheon is sponsored by Williams & Company, an award-winning body and skin care clinic, in the heart of Darien.
