Darien Library Celebrates Children's Book Week

DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Library is hosting two special events to celebrate Children's Book Week.

At 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, Teatro SEA, the Society of the Educational Arts, will perform this Cuban and Puerto Rican folk tale using puppets and Latin music. It is appropriate for children ages 4 to 9. The program will be held in the Library’s Community Room, and tickets will be distributed 15 minutes before the performance.

At 4 p.m. Thursday, May 16, the library will host A Visit with Author Melissa Guion, the author and illustrator of "Baby Penguins Everywhere." She will host the event, which will include a read-aloud, arts and crafts, and some penguin fun. For children ages 4 to 7.

An annual celebration established in 1919, Children's Book Week spreads the joy of reading and children's literature to everyone, the library said on its website.
