Colum McCann is the author of the book selected for the townwide read. The book tells the story of Ireland from the famine in the 1840s through 2011 when President Obama visited, according to a press release. The book selected for young readers is "Born to Fly" by Michael Ferrari.
The One Book, One Community series will culminate with McCann’s appearance at 7 p.m. May 21, at the Darien Library. The appearance is made possible by Barrett Bookstore.
The series will include lectures on World War I and the Irish folk music program, a paper airplane contest and rubber stamp workshops. For more information, residents are asked to visit the Darien Library website.
