DARIEN, Conn. -- The Melting Pot of Darien is set to host a "Fondue-Raiser" to benefit homeless pets.
The Fondue-Raiser is scheduled to run from 5 to 10 p.m., Oct. 24, at the Melting Pot of Darien to benefit Friends of Felines and Outreach for Pets in Need (OPIN), according to a news release. The two pet groups provide shelter, medical care and affection to homeless pets in Fairfield County, according to the release.
"During this special event, guests will have an opportunity to savor a special four-course fondue meal while knowing a portion of the meal proceeds will go directly to these animal rescue programs," representatives said in the release.
“We are very excited to partner with The Melting Pot of Darien as the restaurant has generously pledged to donate a percentage of dinner sales to help homeless cats and dogs in our community,” said Roxy Waters, fundraising coordinator and volunteer of Friends of Felines, in the release. “This is a fun fund-raising event where people share communal pots of cheeses and chocolates while learning about local animals that are in need of forever homes.”
The benefit dinner is $44.95 per person with a vegetarian option set at $39.95 per person. For every meal purchased, the restaurant will donate $5 to the two local animal rescue organizations, according to the release.
In conjunction with the dinner, there will be table of "literature about Friends of Felines and OPIN with volunteers available to discuss the good things happening at the organizations," according to the release.
