The ‘Charity Skate’ is a Darien Winter Club tradition gives members the chance to have a great time playing ice hockey while raising money for a worthy cause, according to a press release. Since 2006, Person-to-Person has been the designated charity for this fundraising event. With this year’s event, the 10-year fundraising total is more than $62,000, according to a press release.

The annual event is organized by John Shaker who, with his wife, is a long-time supporter of Person-to-Person. The Terry Connors Ice Rink donates the ice time, so 100 percent of the donations from the players – and others – benefit Person-to-Person, according to a press release.

Person-to-Person  was established in 1968 to provide low-income individuals and families living in lower Fairfield County with basic emergency services.
