The competition, which runs for eight weeks, is a customized system designed for adults of all ages and fitness levels, and includes a competition based on body fat lost, as opposed to weight lost.

Participants receive the following throughout the competition: Two group personal training sessions per week, five health coaching workshops with certified coach Leila Wetmore (plus three advanced sessions for returning participants), additional office hours to meet one-on-one with Wetmore, a weekly health coaching advice and exercise plan, optional weekly weigh-ins and before and after pictures, a 10 percent discount at Embody Fitness Gourmet throughout the duration of the competition, 20 percent off all personal training packages purchased from Feb. 28 to March 12, and a chance to win one of three amazing prizes.

Participants also have constant support from the private Facebook group, “Chew The Fat,” to share tips and questions with Lean Machine coaches. Lean Machine participants are eligible to win over $3,000 in prizes such as one free month membership, 10-pack of personal training sessions, massages and more! The biggest prize, however, might be the new lifestyle that comes from competing in Lean Machine.

Additionally, Teen Lean Machine is back and will be held from Jan.16 to March 12 as well. This program for kids ages 10 to 15 is designed to help teens incorporate health habits into their lives. Teen Lean Machine winners are based on administered fitness tests and activity tracked by FitBit Flex.

Registration for both adults and teens takes place at the Darien Y’s Wellness Center. The cost for the program is $470 for members of the Darien YMCA, and $570 for non-members. All returning participants with receive a $50 discount! For more information regarding Lean Machine, email wellnesscenter@darien-ymca.org or call 203-655-8228 ext. 1322.
