The grant, funded through Norwalk-based Pepperidge Farm, was used to help feed more than 300 children through P2P’s summer food programs in Norwalk, according to a press release.
Nearly 50 percent of Norwalk public school students are eligible to receive free or reduced-price meals at school. However, those meals are not available during the summer, said Marina Thomas, director of social services for P2P.
“So many of our clients work at minimum wage jobs and they are juggling the bills to cover basic expenses for food, clothing and shelter,” Thomas said in a press release.
