DARIEN, Conn. -- Happy birthday to Darien’s Michael Schwartz!
Schwartz, who has owned a home in Darien, turns 53 on Sunday. The physician was born Oct. 12, 1961, in Brooklyn, N.Y.
He was appointed a ringside physician for the state of Connecticut in 1991 and named as chief ringside physician for the State of Connecticut in 1997.
He also serves as the chief ringside physician and chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for both Foxwoods Resort Casino and Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut.
He also served as chairman of the Medical Advisory Board for the World Boxing Union and is a member of the Medical Advisory Board for the Association of Boxing Commissions and the American Association for the Improvement of Boxing.
He received the American Association for the Improvement of Boxing's Rocky Marciano as Ringside Physician of the Year, the Ring 8 Ringside Physician of the Year award the Connecticut Boxing Hall of Fame Contribution to boxing award.
He established the American Association of Professional Ringside Physicians in 1997, to establish medical protocols for boxing and mixed martial arts worldwide.
He currently practices Internal Medicine in Darien.
