Held at the Hyatt Regency Greenwich on Oct. 6, the dinner was hosted by former Major League Baseball player and manager Bobby Valentine.

“We are very grateful to everyone who came out to support Pacific House,” said Andrew Barer, the organization’s director of development. “The funds raised tonight will help provide food and shelter, as well as case management services, recover programming, employment training and the creation of housing.

“These services work together and are the key to supporting people as they journey towards independence and success — something we do each day at Pacific House.”

Greenwich resident Alice Melly was honored with the 2017 Foundation Award for her support of Pacific House for more than 35 years. A former board member, she still regularly serves dinner at the shelter.

“Putting a roof over peoples’ heads during the ups and downs of recovery is important<‘ she said. “It’s been an honor to see this organization grow.”

First Congregational Church of Darien received the 2017 Community Award. The church has been supporting the shelter with volunteers and funding for more than 25 years.

Planned by a gala committee led by board member Andrew Reid of Greenwich, the evening included dinner and dancing, as well as exciting live and silent auctions.
