DARIEN, Conn. -  Paul Rosolie, author of "Mother of God," will be the featured speaker Wednesday, March 26, at 7 p.m. at the Darien Library.

Rosolie, a first-time author, is a naturalist and explorer who has specialized in the western Amazon for nearly a decade. Along with running a conservation project called Tamandua Expeditions that uses tourism to support rainforest conservation, his work has taken him to some of the last dark places on the map.

He has traveled with poachers into deep jungle to document the black market trade in endangered species (the third largest black market globally, after guns and drugs), he has learned from indigenous trackers about the Amazon’s flora and fauna, and has explored a previously undocumented ecosystem that has come to be called the floating forest. Rosolie has worked on conservation projects in tropical ecosystems all over the world. This is his first book.

In "Mother of God," naturalist and explorer Rosolie recounts his amazing adventures in the uncharted tributaries of the Western Amazon. From his solo expedition in the jungle to his encounter with an un-contacted tribe, trials with poachers, discovery of a never-before-described “floating forest” ecosystem, and his intimate witness of a jaguar’s death.

Bear Grylls called the book, “an awe-inspiring read.”

Paul Rosolie's appearance is made possible by Barrett Bookstore. Books will be available for purchase at this event. Refreshments will be served.

Additional parking for evening and weekend library programs is available at Thorndal Circle, behind Nielsen’s.

The Darien Library is located at 1441 Post Road. Call 203-655-1234 for more information or visit its website .
