Pickleball Players Host Open House At Darien Town Hall Gym

DARIEN, Conn. -- Every wanted to tried Pickleball? You can learn about the fast-growing racquet sport at an open house in Darien on Friday night. 

A Pickleball open house will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Darien Town Hall Gym.

The open house will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Darien Town Hall Gym. 

Parks and Recreation is sponsoring this event for area residents interested in learning about Pickleball. It's a great sport for families, is simple to learn and easy to play. 

According to the USA Pickleball Association, Pickleball is a paddle sport created for all ages and skill levels. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a quick, fast-paced, competitive game for experienced players.

Here are the basic of the game: 

  •  A fun sport that combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong.
  • Played both indoors or outdoors on a badminton-sized court and a slightly modified tennis net.
  • Played with a paddle and a plastic ball.
