Stamford Symphony Raises $25K for Hungry

It was a night of romantic music performed by an exquisite ensemble — and that was only the side dish. The most satiating aspect of the Stamford Symphony Orchestra concert Jan. 29 was the way it served the community.

The event raised more than $25,000 for New Covenant House of Hospitality, a Stamford-based center that provides, among other services, food for needy individuals and families in lower Fairfield County. In addition to Stamford, it is open to residents of Darien, Greenwich and New Canaan.

Concertgoers, who also were feted to a cocktail reception, paid $200 each to attend the benefit performance at Stamford Center for the Arts/The Palace. Funds raised will be targeted toward New Covenant House's food pantry, soup kitchen and children's after-school food program.
