Forsyth will take over from former Executive Director Ellen Kirby, who decided to "pursue other options," the YWCA said in a press release.
"I am delighted that Julie has accepted the offer to serve as our Interim executive director," said Deborah Papaeconomou, Interim President of the Board, YWCA Darien/Norwalk. "Her experience as the president of the board, combined with her extensive professional expertise and her passion for the organization will be invaluable during this transitional period."
Forsyth has been an active YWCA member since moving to Darien in 2009. She has served on the Board of Directors since 2011 and as president of the Board since July 2012.
In addition to her work with the YWCA, Forsyth has been an active community volunteer with Person2Person and the Royle School Kids Care Club.
The YWCA Darien/Norwalk is dedicated to "eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all," the press release said.
