Ceremonies were held to honor first responders and to mourn the victims of 9/11 on the 14th anniversary of the terror attacks. Events were held in:
- Greenwich, where a new memorial was unveiled;
- Stamford, where a living monument made of trees was dedicated;
- New Canaan, where residents gathered at Town Hall;
- Darien, where the town gathered at the 9/11 memorial;
- Norwalk, where officials remembered the 14 city residents killed that day;
- Westport, where Gov. Dannel Malloy led a statewide ceremony;
- Wilton; where five fallen town residents were remembered;
- Fairfield, where the Fire Department hosted and honored first responders;
- Danbury, where students at Wooster School gathered for a ceremony and residents came together downtown at the city's memorial sculpture.
Other top stories included:
- Kyle Navin, a 26-year-old whose parents have been missing for over a month, was arrested on federal gun charges after two weapons, ammunition and heroin were found in his Bridgeport home. He is a person of interest in the disappearance of his parents, Jeffrey and Jeanette Navin, Easton residents and the owners of a Westport trash-hauling business.
- Two Bridgeport residents tested positive for the West Nile virus, the first human cases this year in the state.
- State police, Norwalk police and EMTs helped to deliver a baby boy — later named Ryan — on the side of I-95.
- A one-day closure of Greenwich High School due to a leaking water tank;
- The Beacon School for gifted students held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at its new home in the historic Hubbard Mansion.
- A New Canaan man was stopped from driving drunk with a child in his car outside a Norwalk restaurant.
- Darien police arrested three men from Florida in a rash of smash-and-grab car break-ins.
- Westport police rescued three fishermen whose canoe capsized off Cockenoe Island.
- Former Fairfield resident and tennis great James Blake was slammed to the ground and handcuffed in a case of mistaken identity in New York City.
- A 17-year-old from Redding was charged with taking his parents' vehicle without permission and engaging in a high-speed chase with Wilton Police that nearly reached 100 mph.
- A chance encounter with a talent scout has led to new careers in acting for Danbury father-and-daughter duo Bill and Mary Margaret Walsh.
- Ridgefield resident Chris Belden, who graduated from Fairfield University's MFA program, will soon publish his newest book, "Shriver."
