Eric Diaz, a 19-year-old Bridgeport man who was found shot in the stomach at Beadsley Street and Newfield Avenue, died of his injuries. It was the city's 20th homicide of the year.

The sight of multiple fighter jets flying over parts of Fairfield County last weekend created buzz in the air and on social media. It turned out the low-flying jets were for a flyover at the men's final of the U.S. Open tennis tournament in Queens, N.Y.

A fourth-year medical student from Greenwich married his Yale college sweetheart last weekend — the granddaughter of President John F. Kennedy. Tatiana Celia Kennedy Schlossberg, 27, and George Winchester Moran, 28, were married on Martha’s Vineyard. Moran was a member of the Class of 2007 at the Brunswick School is now a fourth-year medical student at Columbia University in New York. They met as students at Yale. 

Devyn Taylor of Norwalk, who has always had a passion for shoes, started her own online company, Dezzys Footwear. In less than a year she has sold 20,000 pairs of shoes. And the mom of three is passionate about having her company help women and children around the world who are suffering from domestic violence, depression, and poverty.

Westport native Peter Green has written a new book, "Cancer Crossroad," about his battle with brain cancer. It covers everything from the doctor's words, "We found something," to his adaptive exercise program designed specifically for those going through and recovering from cancer treatment. The company is called Workout Through Cancer.

Joe Tremblay of Shelton suffered severe burns to his hands and face when a garage he worked in exploded and caught fire. And now needs the community is rallying to help him on his road to recovery with a GoFundMe to help pay his medical expenses.

A 911 call reporting a hostage situation led Trumbull police to set up an hours-long perimeter at the Royce of Trumbull apartment complex on Old Town Road and caused a lockdown at Fairchild Wheeler Magnet High School. But the reported incident turned out to be a fake, police said. The next day, 31-year-old Lauren Pires of Monroe was arrested on charges of falsely claiming that she had been taken hostage by her boyfriend, police said. She was trying to have her estranged husband arrested, according to police.
