Bestselling author Lee Woodruff will speak at the 2011 Center for HOPE Luncheon about holding her family together after her husband, "ABC World News Tonight" anchor Bob Woodruff, was seriously injured by a roadside bomb in Iraq.
Her husband was doing a broadcast in Iraq when the bomb went off. He was kept in a medically induced coma for 36 days to assist in the recovery of his head wound. Woodruff chronicled her story in the New York Times bestseller, "In an Instant: A Family's Journey of Love and Healing," which she co-wrote with Bob. She released another book, "Perfectly Imperfect," in 2009.
The event will also feature a gift basket drawing and a silent auction. Items up for bid include a gold topaz bracelet from Betteridge Jewelers, four days and three nights of accommodations at hotels in London, Paris and Bermuda, a boat cruise for six and a tour of the Sirius/XM studios led by Gary Dell'Abate of the "Howard Stern Show."
