Population Grows In Darien, All Of Fairfield County

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Fairfield County is booming, with the largest population growth in the state, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau reported by the Hartford Courant

In fact, every city and town in Fairfield County has seen in an increase in population since 2010. Stamford alone has experienced 25 percent of the state's population growth since 2010, with an influx of more than 5,600 people bringing the city's total to 128,278 residents, according to the Courant. 

Bridgeport is still the state's most populous city with 147,612 residents, an increase of 3,376 people since 2010, the Courant said. 

The total increases in population per city and town in the area since 2010 along with the new population total, according to the Courant, are:  

  • Bridgeport: 3,376 more people more to total of 147,612
  • Danbury: 2,887 more to total of 83,784
  • Darien: 957 more to total of 21,689
  • Easton: 141 more to total of 7,631
  • Fairfield: 1,943 more to total of 61,347
  • Greenwich: 1,438 more to total of 62,610
  • New Canaan: 565 more to total of 20,314
  • Norwalk: 2,524 more to total of 88,145
  • Redding: 151 more to total of 9,309
  • Ridgefield: 571 more to total of 25,205
  • Stamford: 5,648 more to total of 128,278
  • Weston: 209 more to total of 10,388
  • Westport: 1,170 more to total of 27,561
  • Wilton: 648 more to total of 18,692
