DARIEN, Conn. The Community Fund of Darien has selected its new executive director. Jenny Streeter will be taking over leadership of the organization March 19.
Streeter is taking the reins from outgoing Executive Director Kiki Karpen , who stepped down March 2 after holding the position for nine years.
I am very excited to join the Community Fund of Darien, Streeter said. It is a tremendous organization that represents the best of our town, channeling the generosity and goodwill of Darien residents to meet the needs of our greater community.
Streeter has been active in the Darien community for several years. She served as vice chairman of the Darien High School Building Committee and co-chairman of the new Darien Library Building Committee, and as a Darien Library Trustee. Her other activities have included serving on the Board of Directors for Dariens Post 53 EMS service, on the Darien Senior Housing Initiative and as chairman of the Royle School PTO. She is a graduate of Harvard University and the Yale School of Management.
The Community Fund of Darien is a nonprofit that supports other human service agencies and organizations in Darien, Stamford and Norwalk through grants. Since its founding 61 years ago, it has given more than $20 million to organizations for the homeless, mental health, special needs, literacy, substance abuse and the elderly as well as food banks.
It also created and plays an active role on the Human Services Planning Council, through which town leaders and professionals meet to discuss community issues and social concerns.
Jennys remarkable experience and past leadership roles on major community projects make her an ideal choice to lead the funds future growth and success, Christie Stone, president of the Community Funds Board of Directors, said in a statement.
