Even though a pool was one of the most requested items by residents in a recent survey, concerns about its location at the beachfront and its costs were debated at multiple public hearings. To keep the Weed Beach project moving forward, commissioners opted to consider other areas for the pool, which could still include Weed Beach in the future, said the Darien Times.

Expansion plans for the beach include a waterfront center for boating and kayaks, a new picnic area, new landscaping and a new boardwalk, added the Darien Times.
