DARIEN, Conn. -- The Darien Veterans of Foreign Wars, members of the Darien Monuments and Ceremonies Commission, Boy Scouts and the Good Wife’s River Chapter of the DAR will be collecting wreath sponsorships for Wreaths Across America.

The annual wreath placement ceremony held on the second Saturday of December has grown in popularity over the years.

For one day only on Saturday, Oct. 17, volunteers will be accepting donations at two locations in Darien, between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., at Palmer’s Market, the Goodwives and Stop & Shop.

Wreath sponsorships are $15 each.

For every two sold, the Worcester Wreath Co. will donate one.

There are options to purchase a wreath for home use as well. Ask one of the volunteers.

Donations by check may be made out to Wreaths Across America and mailed to the Darien VFW Post 6933, PO Box 2172.

Be sure to specify the location with the following information in the memo of the check: CTSGVD.

Donations may also be made online: visit this website and enter CT0007 under Find a Fundraising Group.

It is important that the sponsor CT0007 (Darien VFW Post 6933) and location CTSGVD (CT Veterans Cemetery at Spring Grove) be on the online form.
