UPDATED 2:00 p.m.: The roads in Darien had mostly been cleared by mid-afternoon Monday. Connecticut Light & Power reported that 24 Darien customers were without power as of 2 p.m. This was down from 130 Monday morning. For CL&P's outage map, click here .
Many places remained open in Darien, including both Stop & Shops, Whole Foods, Palmer's Market, the library and Town Hall. Dunkin Donuts, the Darien Sport Shop, the Chamber of Commerce and the Darien Nature Center were closed.
The storm left a total of 18 inches of snow in Darien. Police were warning citizens to stay off the road, as high winds could cause snow to drift into the roads, creating unsafe conditions.
The National Weather Service's blizzard warning was reduced to a winter weather advisory warning people to stay indoors. Winds were reported to be between 25 mph and 35 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph.
The scheduled Monday high school boys and girls basketball games between Darien and Greenwich have been postponed. The girls game will be played Tuesday at 3 p.m. and the boys game will be played at 5 p.m.
