DARIEN William Orr, 20, was arrested on the night of June 9 on charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and intent to sell.
Darien police received a report of a suspicious car parked on Lee Warden Lane. The complainant said one person was in the car and was possibly drinking beer. Officer Nick Aranzullo arrived with Zulu the drug-sniffing dog to check it out, and when Orr saw them he sped off. The car was stopped on Christie Hill Road. When Aranzullo went to talk to the driver, the officer noticed a green leafy substance on his pants and the strong odor of marijuana.
Zulu conducted a free air sniff of the car and found a metal grinder on the driver's side door and a backpack with a bag containing 0.3 grams of marijuana in the back seat. Also, a computer case was found with 10 tinfoil balls of marijuana packaged for sale. Police said a total of 11.6 grams of marijuana was found in the car. Orr, a Darien resident, was arrested, posted $500 bond and will go to court June 23.
Also from the police blotter:
A $600 iPhone was stolen June 8 from the Noroton Heights train station. The owner told police she was dropped off in the parking lot by her husband and had it in her lap. But she said it must have fallen out when she got out of the car. When they logged onto AT&T to check the phone's location using the GPS, they found that it had ended up in Stamford. Police said the phone was considered stolen, and the incident was under investigation.
