DARIEN, Conn. Dariens celebration of the reopening of Weed Beach has been moved to Sunday, June 3, because of expected bad weather.
The festivities will now take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday instead of the original date of Saturday, the Weed Beach Building Committee announced. The concert by the Darien High School Jazz Ensemble will still take place at 5:30 p.m. Saturday as scheduled.
The National Weather Service predicts an 80 percent chance of rain Saturday, with showers and thunderstorms possible from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The prediction for Sunday is for partly sunny skies with a high near 74.
The committee advises those attending the event to anticipate heavy traffic and crowds. Parents should take extra care of children this will not be a drop-off event.
