The town's Emergency Operations Center is monitoring the forecasts. Residents are asked to ensure that they are prepared to stay home Monday afternoon and evening and all day Tuesday. Any travel on local roads during that time is strongly discouraged, town officials said. Blizzard-like conditions, downed tree limbs and power outages are possible.
If you have an emergency generator, make sure it is ready for use in accordance with all safety recommendations. Make sure that all carbon monoxide detectors in your home are working properly.
Darien police will be strictly enforcing all-night parking restrictions in anticipation of the snowstorm. The restrictions are in place to accommodate snow removal efforts, town officials said.
Darien residents are also asked to avoid parking on the street at any time during the storm to allow the Department of Public Works to maximize snow removal.
Residents are asked to avoid calling the Darien Police Communications Center unless you have an emergency. Police also encourage you to check on neighbors who may be less than able to handle an event of this type.
The entire region is under a Blizzard Warning starting at 1 p.m. Monday and running through midnight Tuesday. A total of 18 to 24 inches of snow, and up to 30 inches in some areas, is in the forecast.
