Darien Pays Tribute To Those Lost On Sept. 11

DARIEN, Conn. – The Darien community came together Friday morning to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Sept. 11 attacks.

The Monuments and Ceremonies Commission organized a remembrance ceremony at the 9/11 Memorial located behind Middlesex Middle School. A wreath was placed by the memorial, and members of the community were invited to place roses on the monument.

A moment of silence was held at 8:46 a.m., the time when the first plane hit the North Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

Six Darien residents were lost in the attacks: Christopher Gardner, Stephen LaMantia, Garry Lozier, William Meehan, Edward Maloney and John Works.
