DARIEN, Conn. A Darien woman was arrested and charged with shoplifting from Beadz Boutique in March. Amy Rice, 39, of 137 Hollow Tree Ridge Road is alleged to have taken $2,583 worth of beads.
On March 22, the owner of Beadz Boutique noticed several strands of beads were missing. Police said video surveillance showed a woman crouched down in the section of the store where the beads were taken from and also showed her placing several strands of beads into her purse. A total of 202 strands of beads were taken.
Two days later, the owner reported the same woman allegedly returned to the store. Police said the woman was identified as Rice, who gave officers permission to search her home. According to police reports, Rice turned over several strands that were later identified as store property. A warrant was issued for Rices arrest, and she turned herself in Friday. She was charged with fourth-degree larceny and released on a promise to appear in court May 3.

Domestic Violence . A domestic incident took place between a mother and her 14-year-old son Saturday at their Noroton Avenue home. According to police reports, an argument broke out between the two when the mother tried to discipline her son by taking away his cell phone privileges.
Police said the son proceed to break apart his bedroom door and smashed a living room lamp. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree criminal mischief. He was released on a promise to appear in juvenile court May 1.
