Darien Could See 4 To 8 Inches Of Snow Wednesday

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. – A total of 4 to 10 inches of snow could Wednesday across Fairfield County, according to the National Weather Service, creating travel nightmares for those en route to celebrate Thanksgiving.

A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for 7 a.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday for all of Fairfield County as well as most of the rest of Connecticut, the Hudson River Valley, New York City and northern New Jersey.

The forecast calls for snowfall of 4 to 6 inches along the coastline, 6 to 8 inches inland and up to 8 to 10 inches in Northern Fairfield County, the National Weather Service said. 

The forecast calls for a mixture of rain and snow for Wednesday morning and afternoon. National Weather Service officials estimate all the precipitation will change to snow after 2 p.m.

Although the temperature might not fall below 34 degrees, the forecast calls for wind chills as low as 25 degrees.

The forecast for Thanksgiving Day calls for cloudy skies and a high of about 38 degrees.
