Roads may be slippery and dangerous throughout the entire state of Connecticut and the Hudson Valley, the weather service said.

Police throughout Fairfield County were reporting numerous car accidents. The Norwalk Fire Department rescued two kayakers from the waters of Norwalk Harbor and took them to the Cove Marina, a witness said.

Original story: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- After being slammed by a snowstorm and record cold, Fairfield County drivers are facing the dangers of ice with a freezing rain advisory in effect until 1 p.m. Sunday, the National Weather Service said.

A glaze of ice could make travel treacherous, especially on untreated and elevated services, the weather service said.

Freezing rain and freezing drizzle could lead to a trace of ice accumulation across the morning with temperatures in the lower 20s.

The precipitation should change to all rain by early afternoon.

Drivers should exercise caution.

It will be cloudy, with a high near 39 on Sunday afternoon. Rain is expected Sunday night.

More rain showers and highs in the 40s are expected Sunday, with snow possible in the evening as temperatures drop back into single digits overnight.

Tarisita:

A beautiful day for kayaking.....

sononeknows:

I agree but pick a city that designed a million dollar fire boat for ice rescues if you get into trouble.Westport police have a great one like the ones in Greenwich and Stamford. :)

Jim E:

Hey Sparky
Did you know that "Boat" cost NOTHING It was a Federal grant !!!
And what if it was you who needed to be rescued???? And further more it have the ability that the other Towns don't...

CindyN1996:

Be careful out there. I just fell down our front steps. It is a sheet of ice.

Some schools are closed tomorrow due to Three Kings Day.

Broad River:

@CindyN1996,
Hope you're alright. I damn near fell. Not sure what would have been worse for me falling or the good wrenching I gave myself, grabbing for the railing lol.
Oh, the Epiphany. The day I usually take down my Christmas decorations and search for a King Cake. Norwalk has the worst bakeries!

Greenbeanie:

Broad: Would you elaborate on your post, please? What does it mean?

Broad River:

I heard they are already closing schools in NY for

Broad River:

They're cruising up and down my little side street, now if I can only get to my car 50 feet away in my driveway without falling it's a glade of black ice. lol
