Highway Exit Ramp In Norwalk To Be Closed At Night For Repairs

NORWALK, Conn. -- Night-time drivers headed from Route 7 onto I-95 south in Norwalk will be facing a detour starting Monday night.

The exit ramp from Route 7 south to Interstate 95 south in Norwalk will be closed nightly on weekdays from Monday, April 21, through Friday, May 2, weather permitting, the Connecticut Department of Transportation announced.

The road will be closed while drainage improvements are made along and across the exit ramp, DOT said.

The work is part of a project to construct continuous auxiliary lanes, usually referred to as speed change lanes, between Exit 14 for Route 1 and Exit 15 for Route 7. Improvements are also being made to Route 1 in Norwalk as part of the project. This is expected to greatly improve traffic flow in this area, which frequently sees traffic jams and heavy congestion.

All cars and trucks will be be detoured onto the exit for West Avenue in South Norwalk, which is beyond the exit ramp for I-95 south and alongside the exit for I-95 north. Traffic will turn left at the end of the ramp, cross under the highway and then re-enter I-95 southbound at the West Avenue on ramp.
