A snowstorm will arrive overnight and could mess up the Tuesday morning commute as well, the National Weather Service said.

A quick-moving system will move in after cold and sunny day Monday with highs near 30 degrees. It is expected to produce 2 to 4 inches of snow accumulation inland and 1 to 2 inches along the coast, which could see a mix of rain and snow, according to the National Weather Service.

There is some uncertainty in the snowfall, the weather service said, because the storm is coming off the Atlantic. The snow and ice mix remains uncertain Monday.

But the snow will begin sometime after 5 a.m. Tuesday and continue until around noontime Tuesday. Rain and snow will continue into the evening and night-time.

Temperatures will continue to climb Tuesday afternoon, to a high in the mid-30s, signaling the start of a welcomed warming trend. The warmer temperatures will begin to melt the heavy snowpack left after a nor'easter dropped a foot of snow across Fairfield County last week.

The outlook for Wednesday calls for a chance of rain and snow showers before 10 a.m., then a chance of rain showers with a high in the 40s.

By Friday, the temperature could reach or surpass 50 degrees with patchy fog.
