Carlo Leone has won the election for state Senate with totals from one city voting district in Stamford remaining to be reported. The preliminary Stamford vote totals are 4,168 for Leone, 3,138 for Republican Bob Kolenberg and 24 for Green Party write-in candidate Rolf Maurer.
The District 27 state Senate seat represents parts of Stamford and Darien. The seat in the General Assembly in Hartford became vacant earlier this year when Andrew McDonald accepted an appointment as general counsel to Gov. Dannel Malloy.
Stamford's Leone, 47, has been the legislatures 148th District representative for the past eight years.
