Book lovers looking for bargains should drop by the Darien Library next week. The library will host a book sale from May 8 to May 14. The sale is open during the normal librarys hours.
The items for sale are a combination of old library stock and donations from the town. Darien Library Head of Facilities and Materials Management Lois Calka says this particular sales stock includes more audio books and DVDs than earlier years, as well as a great collection of detective novels and childrens books.
For the first three days, hardcover books, audio books, CDs and videos are $1 each or three for $2, DVDs are $5 each and paperback books are $.25 each or five for $1. On Tuesday and Wednesday (May 11-12), the library will drop all items to half price. True bargain seekers can wait until Thursday, when shoppers may fill a bag for just $1. To close out the sale, the library is allowing residents to fill one bag for free on Friday, May 14.
Since the library does not have enough space to put all its items on sale at once, the stock will be constantly updated throughout the week, so serious book hounds might want to check in a few times during the week. You never know, you might get lucky, said Calka.
