Man Charged in August Motorcycle Crash

David Sabini, 25, of Oak Park Avenue, was arrested last Thursday on charges stemming from a motorcycle accident in August. Sabini was charged with driving while intoxicated, operating an unregistered vehicle, speeding, passing on the right and operating a motorcycle without a motorcycle license.

In August, an officer spotted Sabini driving erratically north on Noroton Avenue. The officer gave chase but lost sight of him, eventually finding the crashed motorcycle about a quarter-mile away on Middlesex Avenue. The motorcycle had hit a tree and a stonewall. The officer detected a strong odor of alcohol. Sabini sustained multiple injuries and was taken to Stamford Hospital. Police obtained a search warrant for Sabini's blood, and found that his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Sabini turned himself in. He was released on a promise to appear in court Nov. 9.

Also from the police blotter:

• Six bicycles were stolen last week from train stations in Darien. Last Tuesday, a 26-inch Schwinn Landmark Cruiser worth $250 and a black Trek bike, valued at $500, were stolen from the eastbound parking lot of the Noroton Heights Train Station. A bright red men's bike, valued at $250, was stolen last Thursday from the westbound lot of the Darien Train Station. On Friday, a $500 black Globe bike and a $200 black GT mountain hybrid were taken from the eastbound lot of the Darien station. In all cases, the owners had locked the bikes up in the morning and returned in the evening to find them missing.
