DARIEN, Conn. Hundreds of Darien homes and businesses were left in the dark Tuesday afternoon after problems at a Connecticut Light & Power substation. As of 3:45 p.m. there were 1,753 customers without power in town, representing 8 percent of all customers. Town Hall will remain open until 8 p.m. as a cooling station for anyone who lost power.
"We don't know exactly what caused the problem but we know that two circuits are affected in Darien," said Mitch Gross of CL&P. He said that the problems started just before 2 p.m. "We don't have an estimate right now of when power will be restored, but our boys are out there right now working on it."
The Darien Library tweeted that they will remain open without power, and that their computers are off but they still have Wi-Fi.
