DARIEN, Conn. Nancy Ferns Simpson died Monday, Sept. 19, after a long illness. She was 83 years old. Born on Sept. 25, 1927, in Bronxville, N.Y., she attended Abbot Academy, Knox School and Barmor School in New York City. She married Harold B. Simpson Jr. in 1949 and moved to Darien in 1955. She served for many years as a teacher's aide at Hindley Elementary School. She was also a member of the Darien Community Association and was a volunteer with the Darien Chapter of the American Red Cross. She is survived by her husband, as well as five children, Deborah Folsom of Bronxville, William Simpson of Darien, David Simpson of Norwalk, Jeffrey Simpson of Tampa and Douglas Simpson of New Canaan, and 10 grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at the Noroton Presbyterian Chapel in Darien on Monday, Sept. 26, at 11 a.m. A private family interment will be held at Spring Grove Cemetery.
