A New Jersey man was arrested on charges of beating a Darien woman in her Post Road apartment. Police received a call last Wednesday at noon from a woman who claimed a man named Robert Rush of Whiting, N.J., had beaten her. The police went to her apartment building at 397 Post Road and found her standing outside with her face bloodied, bruised and swollen. She said Rush was still in her apartment. When officers went inside they found him face down on the floor, snoring. The woman said Rush had been drinking and when she tried to wake him up he got up swinging. He then twisted her arm, pushed her head down and punched her in the face, the woman said. Rush was charged with assault and disorderly conduct. He did not post his $50,000 bond and went to court the next day.
