The Ridgefield Playhouse received the grant from the fund, managed by the state Department of Economic and Community Development, to be used for "general operating support," according to a press release.

The fund is distributed every year to nonprofit arts organizations that have had total donor contributions of more than $25,000 for the past two years, according to the release. Representatives did not list the amount of the grant in the release.

“This CT Arts Endowment Fund grant helps us offset the many expenses associated with running a not-for-profit performing arts center where, each year, upwards of 120 programs bring high-caliber musicians, dancers, actors, health and wellness experts, chefs, documentary movie and children’s educational theater to our diverse audiences," said Allison Stockel, executive director of The Ridgefield Playhouse. "Through our community outreach programs, seniors, students and those who would not be able to experience the power of live entertainment and film can enjoy what the Playhouse has to offer thanks to the generosity of grantors such as the CT Arts Endowment Fund.”

The Playhouse offers thousands of free tickets to more than 25 nonprofit organizations, families, Title I schools and Ridgefield senior citizens each year, "making the arts accessible to those who otherwise would not be able to benefit from the enriching experience of theater and live music," according to the release.
