  • A Darien resident and Former Tiffany executive, Ingrid Lederhaas-Okun, 47, was sentenced to one year and one day in federal prison for stealing more than $2.1 million in jewelry from Tiffany.
  • Packages were reported stolen from the doorsteps of two Darien homes. Both incidents are still under investigation.
  • Luis Alomar, 37, a fugitive suspected in a string of bank robberies along the Eastern Seaboard, including possibly in Westchester and Fairfield counties, was arrested in Medford, Long Island, N.Y.
  • Charles E. Waggner, a 48-year resident of Darien and partner and executive vice-president of Esselen Associates died at age of 81.
