STAMFORD, Conn. -- A Stamford man will spend 40 months in federal prison for selling a sawed-off shotgun and cocaine to undercover agents in a sting, U.S. Attorney Deirdre M. Daly said.

Stamford resident David Jeune, 30, was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny in Hartford. His prison term will be followed by three years of supervised release.

Jeune, also known as “Junie” and “June Bug," has been detained since his arrest on April 2, 2014.

According to court documents and statements made in court, Jeune sold a sawed-off Mossberg model Regal 500 shotgun to an undercover agent in exchange for $350 on March 3, 2014.

The following day, he and another individual sold one ounce of cocaine to the undercover agent in exchange for $1,250.

On March 12, 2015, Jeune pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a firearm by a previously convicted felon and one count of possession with intent to distribute, and distribution of cocaine, according to Daly.

This matter stems from “Operation Samson,” an investigation headed by the ATF and the Bridgeport and New Haven Police Departments that targeted violent criminals, illegal firearm possession and firearm trafficking, said Daly.

In the spring of 2014, 40 ATF special agents and personnel from Connecticut and across the country were deployed with New Haven and Bridgeport Police to conduct numerous covert operations, according to Daly.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney H. Gordon Hall.
