FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- With steamy, humid weather in the forecast for Fairfield County on Tuesday, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection has issued an "Air Quality Action Day."

An Air Quality Action Day indicates ozone levels are expected to reach or exceed unhealthy standards. The alert is in effect until 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Skies are expected to be sunny with a high temperature around 87 degrees on Tuesday. There is a slight chance of showers after 3 p.m.

Active children and adults, and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion on Tuesday, according to the state.
