Storm Moves East, But Frigid Wind Chills Will Return To Darien

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- The latest winter storm to come through the area has moved east, but bitter cold will return to Fairfield County overnight and continue Monday.

Darien saw 6.5 inches of snow accumulation at 6 a.m. Sunday, with most of the county seeing similar totals, according to the National Weather Service. Stamford reported 6.0 inches of accumulation and Danbury 5.0.

Clouds will break for partly sunny skies Sunday with a high temperature between 36 and 38 degrees.

But then it's back to frigid temperatures with an overnight low between 10 and 12 degrees and wind gusts between 20 and 22 miles per hour.

Monday's high will be in the mid to upper teens, but will fall later in the afternoon to between 10 and 12 degrees by 5 p.m., according to the weather service. Wind gusts as high as 27 to 29 miles per hour will produce wind-chill values between -5 and 5 degrees.

The outlook for Tuesday is mostly sunny with a high only between 17 and 19 degrees.
