Strong Storm Blows Through Darien, Knocks Out Power

updated: FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. — Eversource and United Illuminating were reporting large power outages Monday afternoon after a line of strong storms pushed through Fairfield County.

Downed trees and power lines were reported in many towns. 

Here are the outages reported as of 4:15 p.m.: 

  • Bridgeport: 29 customers
  • Brookfield: 27 customers
  • Danbury: 33 customers
  • Darien: 9 customers
  • Greenwich: 429 customers
  • Monroe: 744 customers
  • Newtown: 316 customers
  • Ridgefield: 227 customers
  • Shelton: 1,116 customers
  • Stratford: 13 customers
  • Trumbull: 62 customers
  • Westport: 1 customer
  • Wilton: 41 customers
It was not clear when the outages would be restored.

And that may not be the end of the rain on Monday.

All of Fairfield County remains under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 8 p.m. Monday night, according to the National Weather Service.
