DARIEN, Conn. A man driving suspiciously in a Darien neighborhood early Wednesday morning was arrested when a small amount of marijuana was found in his car, Darien police said.
An officer patrolling Hollow Tree Ridge Road in an unmarked car because of recent vehicle break-ins
began following a 2004 Pontiac Sunfire around 1:45 a.m. After making a turn without signaling, the driver pulled into a driveway on Gardner Street, shut off the car's lights and backed out, police said.
The driver, Jonathan Russell, 19, of Shelton, was nervous when he was pulled over, police said. There also was a 17-year-old girl in the car. Russell told police he was lost and looking for I-95. He also said he was taking the girl home to Stamford, but police later determined she lived in Shelton, too.
An open 12-ounce bottle of Coors Light, a six-pack and a small amount of marijuana in a clear plastic bag were found in the car, police said. Russell is due in court Aug. 24.
