Two Floors Of Stamford Train Station Garage Reopen Monday After Repairs

STAMFORD, Conn. – The state Department of Transportation announced that two levels of the Stamford train station garage will reopen Monday morning after they were closed last year for renovation and needed repairs.

The garage's top and bottom floors will reopen after about $1.3 million of necessary repairs, required after a routine inspection last year uncovered issues with concrete decking and lighting.

After the opening, about 300 spaces will be available for customers, an increase of 50 spaces.

“This is good news for commuters. The council is pleased that the garage has been repaired and approximately 300 spots have been put back in service,” Jim Gildea, Connecticut Commuter Rail Council chairman, said in a statement.

As for the rest of the garage, a decision hasn't yet been made on overall redevelopment of the hub.

The Gateway parking garage on Washington Boulevard will still be available but will no longer offer discounted commuter parking rates.
