WalletHub Ranks Connecticut As 3rd-Richest State In US

FAIRFIELD COUNTY, Conn. -- Connecticut boasts nine billionaires on the Forbes 400 list and is home to an area called The Gold Coast. Is it any wonder it was recently ranked the third-richest state in America by WalletHub?

WalletHub analyzed all 50 states and Washington, D.C., and ranked them in three key metrics:

Income
Gross domestic product per capita
Tax dollars per capita

Connecticut ranked tied for third with Maryland and finished in the top five in all three categories. The Nutmeg State was ranked fifth in both Income and GDP per capita. It place fourth in taxes paid per capita.

Neighboring New York was ranked 12th.

Washington, D.C., and New Jersey tied for the top overall spot.

New Mexico, South Carolina, Alabama, West Virginia and Mississippi were ranked in the bottom five.
