DARIEN, Conn. It will be a relatively quiet week in Darien, as schools will be out on April vacation. Here are some events happening in town for those who aren't going away for the break.
Monday, April 16
April vacation starts for all Darien schools.
12:30 p.m.: Visiting Nurse and Hospice of Fairfield County will be at the Darien Senior Center for the free presentation "Plan For No Regrets." The discussion will include how to select health care providers and make your wishes known to friends and family.
1 p.m.: Come to the Darien Library for a screening of "The Muppets."
Tuesday, April 17
7:15 p.m.: The Board of Selectmen will meet in Room 206 of Town Hall. Click here for the agenda.
Wednesday, April 18
11 a.m.: Rosemary Williams, director of Women's Perspective, continues her series of money conversations for women at the Darien Senior Center. She will talk about managing your finances while staying true to your core beliefs and values.
1:30 p.m.: The Darien Library screens "Far and Away." Starring Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman, the film tells the story of Irish immigrants in the 19th century and their journey to America. Rated PG-13.
5:30 p.m.: Atria Darien hosts a fundraiser for the Norwalk Hospital Whittingham Cancer Center Walk and Sally's Run. Come enjoy wine and appetizers, and enter to win raffle prizes such as a Kindle Fire.
Thursday, April 19
5:30 p.m.: The Darien Chamber of Commerce hosts a Business After Hours at the Hotel Zero Degrees in Stamford. Come by for this networking event, during which the Chamber will also hand out awards to green businesses as part of its annual Darien Going Green initiative. Entry is $15 for members, $20 for nonmembers.
7 p.m.: The Darien Library hosts Susan Cain, author of "Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can't Stop Talking." Cain explores the psychological aspects and advantages of the introvert.
Friday, April 20
6:30 p.m.: The Darien Library continues its series of foreign films with a screening of "Baran." This documentary-style film uses many nonprofessional actors to tell the story of a construction worker in Iran who falls in love with an Afghani refugee. Another screening will follow at 8:30 p.m.
