DARIEN, Conn. — The YWCA Darien/Norwalk will hold its Stand Against Racism, the Darien Community Association hosts its Spring Boutique, and members of the Darien media will discuss local journalism this week. Here's a rundown of all the events happening in town this week.

Monday, April 23

Felting presentation - 12:30 p.m. For all you knitters, learn how to felt at the Darien Senior Center.

RTM Finance and Budget Committee - 7:30 p.m. The Representative Town Meeting's Finance and Budget Committee will meet at the Board of Education meeting room at Town Hall. Click here for the agenda.

RTM Rules Committee - 8 p.m. The  Representative Town Meeting's Rules Committee will meet at the Town Hall auditorium.

Tuesday, April 24

Republican presidential primary - 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Registered members of the Republican Party can cast ballots in the state's GOP primary.

Author presentation - 10:30 a.m. Author Anne-Marie Sutton will be at the Darien Community Association to discuss her new novel, "Gilded Death." The presentation will be followed by a luncheon.

Alzheimer's discussion - 12:30 p.m. Kristen Cusato of the Alzheimer's Association of Connecticut will be at the Darien Senior Center to give a presentation on Alzheimer's disease and dementia.

Film screening - 3 p.m. The Darien Library will screen "Summer of the Monkeys" in its Teen Library. The movie is about a young boy who finds a family of chimpanzees in the woods and decides to raise them.

Meet the author - 7 p.m. The Darien Library will host author Cristina Alger, who will be discussing her book, "The Darlings."

Board of Education - 7:30 p.m. The Board of Education will meet in its offices at Town Hall. Click here to see the agenda.

Planning and Zoning Commission - 8 p.m. The Planning and Zoning Commission will meet in Room 206 at Town Hall.

Wednesday, April 25

Money conversations for women - 11 a.m. Rosemary Williams of the Women's Perspective will continue her series of money conversations for women at the Darien Senior Center. She will discuss how women can manage their finances while staying true to their core values and beliefs.

Spring Boutique - 5:30 p.m. The Darien Community Association kicks off its Spring Boutique.

College essay writing - 7 p.m. The Darien Library hosts a discussion on "The ABCs of Writing a Great College Application Essay."

American Dream Roundtable - 7:30 p.m. The YWCA Darien/Norwalk hosts the YW Panel: American Dream Roundtable at the First Congregational Church. State Rep. William Tong, Darien writer and filmmaker Sharbari Ahmed and strategy consultant Gerry Garcia will discuss their backgrounds, life experiences and pursuit of the American Dream.

Thursday, April 26

Spring Boutique - 9 a.m. The Darien Community Association continues its annual Spring Boutique sale.

Book Discussion - 7 p.m. The Darien Library hosts a book discussion of the novel "97 Orchard."

Board of Selectmen - 7:45 p.m. The Board of Selectmen will meet in Room 206 of Town Hall.

Friday, April 27

Spring Boutique - 9 a.m. The Darien Community Association continues its annual Spring Boutique.

Stand Against Racism - 9:30 a.m. First Selectman Jayme Stevenson will read a proclamation in support of the YWCA Darien/Norwalk's Stand Against Racism at Town Hall.

Darien media discussion - 9:30 a.m. Journalists from The Daily Darien, the Darien Times, the Darien News, the Darien Patch and Channel 79 will take part in a panel discussion on local media at Town Hall, hosted by the League of Women Voters.

Arbor Day celebration - 2 p.m. The Darien Community Association celebrates Arbor Day with the planting of a red oak presented by Almstead Tree, Shrub and Lawn Care. An instructional presentation on tree planting will follow.
